In March 1990 the firm was bought by Pieter N. Kies as a sole proprietorship but later, in 1998, it was changed to a closed corporation.

pkiesMr. Pieter N. Kies graduated with a BCom degree in Accounting Science. He is a registered tax practitioner and a member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants.

Pieter was still busy doing his articles and graduated from the University of Pretoria (TUKS) with a BCom degree at the age of 22. While he was studying he did part time work to help pay his loans for his studies and also provide for his family. He got married to Karen in 1986 and she gave birth to their daughter Tanya in October 1987.

The company started out of the garage of Pieter’s parents house which he changed into an office. Later on he ran the company for many years from his own home. As the business expanded the premises was no longer suitable and he moved to a bigger premises which also was his home. In 2013 he bought a new building and revamped it into beautiful office space with room for more expansion and future growth.

Kies and Associates Accountants is also a training centre for South African Institute of Professional Accountants students to complete their articles. Through the years the practice has trained many trainee accountants.
